Today’s post was one I was not planning on, however with a very recent and unexpected loss I felt that it was a small way I could pay tribute to a cat named Cecilia or CC for short.
Every cat is an individual so the connection I make varies with each one I meet when pet sitting. In CC’s case having to work for acceptance and trust made the relationship even more rewarding.
The Tumbleweeds – my nickname for her and her brother Oscar

CC rolls over on her back during play time with Oscar her more outgoing brother
I gladly went through CC’s approval process before she decided that I was an acceptable substitute for mom every time I watched her and Oscar. Patience, treats and playtime helped the process along and usually by a few days in CC would give me her paw of approval.

I would be rewarded with little kisses, an exposed cat belly which I could rub and little mews of protest when I had to leave. She would sometimes sit next to me and of course I would freeze, afraid to move and disturb her!

CC loved sitting in front of the mirror and looking at herself

You have earned my trust human
CC was a sweet and gentle girl, and when she managed to get close to me, her expression was one of “I am watching you, I like you but I am watching you!”

Pet loss will never be easy and almost all of us have been through it or will be. Sharing these photos is my way of honoring and remembering the fluffy, sassy CC who loved to chase crinkle balls and eat treats. She will always be loved and never forgotten.
