Move over cat cafe’s there is a new idea brewing that will, if successful, marry a trifecta of favorites – cats, cinema and cuppa. The people behind the Great Kitten are hoping to open the worlds first cat cafe and cinema in London, where you could sit back, relax with a cup of tea and watch a film with a cat.
Great Kitten’s vision is to recreate a rustic, homey atmosphere complete with fireplace and comfortable sofa’s “ Our firm belief is that the combination of a delicious drink, purring cats to keep you company, and a great movie is the ultimate escapism from London’s rat race and an unparalleled way to relax and unwind.”
The main goal of the Great Kitten is to promote cat adoptions in London and the UK by working with local cat charities and partner shelters. They also plan to host workshops and seminars on site and in schools in hopes of promoting and encouraging cat welfare. The Great Kitten will also go one step further by giving back to the community by offering free animal therapy, from the resident cats, one afternoon per week to children and adults who suffer from physical or mental disabilities.
In all of this it is very good to see that the cats safety and well-being comes first with rules for people to follow to ensure the cat-friendly space stays that way. The cats will also have permanent access to a human free zone should they need a break from all the attention.
The campaign to raise funds for what could be the world’s first cat cinema and cafe has already begun on Indiegogo and they offer a variety of perks including sponsoring a cat; curating your own film season; and having your own personalized reserved chair for whenever you want to watch a film.
